In order to manage always increasing output current level of power converters, Premo has developed a new technology using planar transformers within a extended power range (few kW to 10 kW).

This technology is specially developed for full-bridge topology with a high input voltage level (500-1000V) achieving different turns-ratio of 2 :1, 3 :1… Switching frequency can be defined between 70 to 160 kHz.

Main characteristics (2 :1 10kW/100kHz transformer example) :

-    Compact shape (148.5 x 67 x 31 mm max overall dimensions)
-    High efficiency (less than 35W of losses at 100°C)
-    Low leakage inductance value (optimized primary/secondary coupling)
-    Easy mounting into the application (by M5 screws)
-    Bus-bar connections (for M4 screws)
-    High cooling capability.
-    H (180°C) thermal index according to IEC 85
-    Compliant with many standards (IEC 61558, IEC 60974…)
-    High isolation (increased creepage distances)

Typical applications are power systems for machine-tools, laser cutting or punching systems, as well as special apparatus for medical appliance.

This new range of components completes the P264 family (multilayer printed-circuit-board technology) dedicated to industrial applications and the HPC / HPT series (overmolded products) fitting the next automotive platforms for hybrid and electrical vehicles.

Premo Group, with more than 45 years of experience, is the first Spanish manufacturer of inductive components, one of three major Spanish exporters of electronics components and the worldwide leader in low frequency RFID antennas. The company takes an active part in the main European, NAFTA (US, Canada, Mexico) and Asia-Pacific (China, Japan, South Korea) markets, with exportation of up to 70% of its turnover. Premo employs more than 500 people in the world, including 40 engineers dedicated to R&D.
